TuneCore Partners with Gaana to Help Artists Distribute Across India

October 8, 2020

TuneCore has officially partnered with the popular Indian streaming platform Gaana. As we continue to offer our community best in class distribution services, that entails expanding the reach that artists have when it comes to selling their latest releases.

While it’s not TuneCore’s first entrance to the Indian streaming market, it is significant given Gaana’s expansion in recent years in terms of services and subscriber numbers.

Gaana is one of the most streamed/downloaded apps in India, and the audio and video streaming and download platform boasts over 185 million monthly active users.

As international music becomes more and more popular across India, that’s 150 million potential new listeners for TuneCore Artists distributing their music to Gaana!

In addition to digital music streaming and downloads, Gaana offers subscribers podcasts, playlists, streaming radio, and a ‘discovery’ portal. In order to offer a more immersive experience for fans in terms of discovery, Gaana regularly runs artist promotion campaigns via social media, events, and in-app. With the launch of a new short video offering on the platform (called HotShots) – artists can create and edit short videos promoting their songs or simply post skits, choreographed dances, fashion or health tips, etc. Additionally, Gaana has a widely-used voice assistant feature to make multilingual searches easy.

India’s music market is growing fast as more and more fans adopt streaming platforms like Gaana. The country’s annual digital music revenue is expected to reach $353 million by 2024. There’s never been a better time for independent artists to begin distributing their music across India.
